Read these with care
- The median is the middle member: half did more, half did less. It is less affected by a few very active members than the average.
- Ministers answer questions rather than ask them, and the presiding officers rarely vote, so their patterns differ.
- Government backbenchers are often given arranged "Dorothy Dixer" questions, which raises their question counts.
- Votes only record ayes and noes, so a missed vote cannot be told apart from a pair (an agreed absence).
- Counts cover only what is on this site, and do not measure electorate or committee work. New members have less history.
Question Time
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked if the Prime Minister had provided Rhys Muldoon with a reference for his Australia Day ambassadorial role.
Background: The Shadow Minister for Scrutiny asked again if the Prime Minister provided a reference for Rhys Muldoon.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister answered no.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked what involvement the Prime Minister had in Mr Muldoon's appointment as a Labor adviser and if he provided a reference for the Australia Day role.
Background: The Prime Minister had sacked Rhys Muldoon as an Australia Day ambassador following vile posts about conservative women.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister stated that he had no involvement in the appointment as a Labor adviser. He clarified that the Australia Day role began under the former coalition government and had nothing to do with him.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked again if the Prime Minister provided Rhys Muldoon with a reference for his Australia Day ambassadorial role or any other roles.
Background: Follow-up to the previous question regarding Rhys Muldoon's roles.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister stated that action had been taken regarding Muldoon's role as a relief staff casual employee for Senator Dowling. He clarified that Muldoon had been an ambassador since 2014 but was not an ambassador in 2026. He noted that the assistant minister had taken action to state it was not appropriate for Muldoon to be an ambassador and condemned his comments as outrageous.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked why the Prime Minister had declared his property ownership to the golf club but failed to declare his honorary membership to parliament before approving funding.
Background: Footage from 2019 showed the Prime Minister declaring an interest in a golf club rally, raising questions about his disclosure of membership to parliament.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister stated he made no apologies for supporting organisations in his electorate. He clarified that the honorary membership was from 2012 and cost only $5 for two years. He said he was unaware of the issue until last week and had written to the club secretary to decline the honorary membership. He offered to pay the standard fee if he visited the club in the future.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked the Prime Minister if he had misled the House by allocating significantly more funding to a clubhouse precinct used for campaign launches than to stormwater works, contrary to his earlier statements about sewerage needs.
Background: The Prime Minister had previously stated that $6 million for the Marrickville Golf Club was for sewerage works, but allocations showed $4.55 million for a clubhouse precinct and $1 million for stormwater.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister denied misleading the House, stating that the funding was part of pre-announced election commitments. He listed three commitments for his electorate, including the golf club upgrade, which included sewerage repairs to prevent river pollution during floods. He contrasted the number of his election commitments with the opposition's larger list.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked whether the Prime Minister's previous statement that pork-barrelling would stop under a Labor government was a broken promise, given the distribution of grants.
Background: The member claimed that 73 per cent of the $560 million grant scheme's funding was directed to Labor seats, which included a $6 million allocation to the Marrickville Golf Club, an organisation where the Prime Minister held honorary membership.
Answer from Anthony Albanese
The Prime Minister defended the three grants in his electorate as worthwhile community projects. He described funding for the Leichhardt Women's Community Health Centre, a St Vincent de Paul refuge for women escaping domestic violence, and repairs to the Marrickville Golf Club's septic tank to prevent raw sewage from entering the Cooks River during floods. He clarified that his honorary membership at the golf club was granted in 2012, that he did not hold a card or use the facilities, and that membership fees were low. He expressed pride in supporting these local community organisations.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked why a fourth-generation farmer from Eudunda had to wait four weeks for fuel needed for farming operations, despite being categorized as critical.
Background: The Shadow Minister for Fisheries cited a farmer waiting four weeks for fuel and asked why she had to wait.
Answer from Chris Bowen
The Minister offered to take up the specific case with suppliers. He reported that Ampol's supply to regional South Australia was up 44 per cent year-on-year and provided figures for Viva, showing increases in supply to regional areas across states. He stated that combined supplies from Ampol and Viva were significantly higher than a year ago, reflecting progress in catching up with demand spikes. He praised the National Farmers' Federation for its constructive approach and emphasized the need for collaboration during this difficult international circumstance.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member asked whether the Minister would rule out changes to diesel fuel credit arrangements, noting that changes could increase costs for farmers and miners.
Background: Potential changes to diesel fuel credit arrangements.
Answer from Chris Bowen
The Minister stated that the government's policy has not changed and that it provides strong support for farmers. He referred to his previous answer to the member for Mackellar on the same issue.
Question from Tony Pasin
The member cited an energy retailer CEO's warning about costs and asked why the minister was focused on global climate conferences instead of helping struggling Australians.
Background: A Liberal member questioned the Prime Minister about warnings that energy transition costs would affect low-income households.
Answer from Jim Chalmers
The Treasurer argued that global net zero efforts were an economic opportunity and that the government was providing electricity bill relief, gas caps, and battery subsidies. He cited energy CEOs supporting the transition to renewables to lower long-term costs. He criticized the opposition for creating investor uncertainty and prioritizing internal politics over energy prices.
